Hiking and Biking right in our backyard!
There are many hikes of all levels right here in Beacon. This picture is of Steve on our very first hike together up Mt. Beacon back in October 2008 (That's the Hudson River out near the horizon and our house is somewhere in the middle). We have trail maps for Fishkill, Beacon, and Cold Spring. And FYI, the wedding site is at the base of Mt. Beacon. We will have plenty of bikes to borrow from friends, our friends bike store, People's Bicycles, and Steve's collection ;)
Kayaking on the Hudson River

Hiking, Biking, and Rock Climbing in New Paltz
New Paltz is about a 30 minute drive north of Beacon. Steve and I visit this great college town often to go hiking and swimming.
The Shawangunk Mountains offer many trails at all levels for a beautiful stroll or a rigorous hike.

The infamous "Gunks" is the place to go for rock climbing. Here is an image of two climbers we watched while we were waiting our turn at Peter's Kill.

Minnewaska State Park has walks, hikes, lakes, waterfalls, and biking trails.
We also want to mention a couple food/beer places in this area.
The Mountain Brauhaus is a German restaurant with authentic German cuisine and beers to flush it all down. Bacchus has OVER 300 BEERS to chose from! Need we say more? Also near New Paltz, is New York's first whiskey distillery since prohibition, Tuthilltown Spirits in Gardiner, NY. All of this only 30 minutes away!
Art in Beacon
Beacon has become a prolific art location ever since Dia: Beacon opened in 2003. Dia:Beacon is a 300,000 square foot historic printing factory housing a renowned permanent collection of major works of art from the 1960's to the present.
